CM Study Abroad in South Korea

In summer 2014, CECM faculty Younghan Jung and Junsuk Kang led a group of 11 Construction Management students on a Study Abroad trip to South Korea.  The students enrolled in six credit hours of upper-level CM courses, attended lectures and went on several field trips during the month-long trip.

After learning about the Korean culture, the students focused on learning about state-of-the-art construction technologies and processes.  Lecturers came from the Korean Aerospace university, the Korea Institute for Defense Analysis, oil refining plants and other private sector facilities.  The group visited the Korean Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, the Lotte World Tower, and the site of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeong Chang.

In the final week of the program, students participated in a week-long internship in Sejong City at the Multifunctional Administrative City Construction Administration.  Students gained hands-on experience in new construction technology being used in many projects throughout the city.
