CECM Study Abroad in Mexico

Dr. Gustavo Maldonado of the CECM department led a group of 11 undergraduate students and 2 graduate assistants from Georgia Southern on a fascinating study abroad program in conjunction with the Universidad Anahuac Mayab in Mexico for a month starting May 18, 2015.  The students learned modern land surveying techniques, including laser scanning, then were allowed to model the Temple of the Seven Dolls at the Dzibilchaltun Maya ruins.  They used a laser scanner and a quadricopter as well as data interpretation to create a 3Mayab4D point-Mayab1cloud model of the templeMayab2 with very high precision.
