Departments & Offices
As the founding Dean of the new Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT), I am pleased to welcome you to our web site!
The faculty and staff of the Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Information are committed to training the Engineering and IT experts who will invent, inspire and innovate the advances that will define our lives now and in the future.
Our goal is to provide computer science, engineering and information technology (IT) students with an excellent, hands-on, practical and laboratory-oriented education. CEIT emphasizes direct faculty interaction with students through projects within course and undergraduate research for development of responsible graduates who are ready to contribute to our industries and society. We pride ourselves on providing abundant opportunities for professional development, services and resources for our students and faculty.
The faculty, staff and I are excited about the growth of engineering and IT at Georgia Southern. While our primary focus remains on excellence in teaching, we are increasing our emphasis on undergraduate and graduate research. CEIT encourages all of its students to pursue project oriented activities and academic research in an area that interests them. We sponsor an annual undergraduate research symposium, and students often contribute significantly to faculty research projects. In addition, each department hosts student chapters of professional societies which encourage students to engage in actual engineering projects and conduct applied research, take part in team competitions, and network with professionals in their area of study. Our faculty members also take pride in their contributions to reinforce the student’s confidence, commitment, competence, creativity, communication skills, and culture and character.
Graduates of our programs are successfully employed in the mainstream industry and broadening high-tech segment locally and nationally. Our graduates are placed in very responsible positions in engineering, information technology and technical management. Graduates have also been very successful in advancement to positions such as plant engineers and managers, project managers, chief information officers and presidents of companies.
I invite you to take a few minutes and explore our offering in this website.
