Dr.Valentin Soloiu, Professor, completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 1997. He has conducted research in the areas of Energy Systems, Sustainable and Renewable Bio-fuels, Combustion and Emissions, Fuel Sprays, Unsteady Fluid Dynamics, Design and Development of IC Engines, Dynamics and Vibrations, and Tribology. Dr. Mosfequr Rahman, Associate Professor, completed his PhD in Engineering Science and Mechanics at The University of Alabama in 2005. He has conducted research in the areas of experimental fluid mechanics, aerodynamic performance analysis of vertical axis wind turbine, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations of incompressible fluids and nanofluids.
Dr. Cheng Zhang, Assistant Professor, earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University in 2007. He then worked as a Postdoctoral Associate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2007 to 2010. He has conducted research in the area of turbulent spray combustion, computational aeroacoustics of human phonation, combustion instability, and computational fluid dynamics modeling of solid fuel gasification.
Dr. David Calamas, Assistant Professor, earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Alabama in 2013. He has conducted research in the areas of biologically-inspired thermal and fluid transport phenomena, microscale flows, passive and active thermal management techniques, heat transfer, and solar energy.
